New Telescope for Mapleton Observatory |

In the beautiful hinterlands of southern
Queensland near Nambour on the sunshine coast is a terrific and
very well equipped public observatory - the Mapleton Observatory
where for many years it housed a Celestron C-11 telescope
mounted on a Losmandy equatorial mount. My Astro Shop
won the bid to supply the observatory with a new larger Celestron
Schmidt Cassegrain optical tube (the classic C-14). The telescope
was hand delivered by Steve Massey of My Astro Shop and Trevor
Taylor from the Hervey Bay Astronomical Society in late December
2009.
