The Plossl eyepiece design is one of the most versatile, it is suitable in a wide range of telescope designs from Newtonians, refractors and Cassegrains.
 
Prostar 1.25” Plossl eyepieces follow the orthodox symmetrical Plossl design where the two groups of two elements each are identical.  This typically produces an apparent field of view (AFOV) of 50° to 52°.
 
Prostar 1.25" Plossl eyepieces offer fully multi-coated optics with blackened lens edges to reduce ghosting and improve contrast.  Eyepieces are also threaded to accept 1.25” filters.
 
Plossl eyepieces with their 4 element in two groups design also makes them excellent, inexpensive planetary eyepieces due to the minimal number of surfaces that light comes in contact with - the more surfaces the less light is transmitted, even with multi-coatings.
 
Available in the following focal lengths:  40mm, 30mm, 25mm, 20mm, 15mm, 10mm & 6.5mm.
 
Note that achromatic refractors show achromatic aberration, and this will be more significant as eyepiece focal length becomes shorter.  To help overcome this blue flaring, a Yellow #12 filter or Baader Fringe Killer filter can be used to reduce this effect.
